Roaches

Cockroaches in your home or business are not only unsightly, they also create allergic problems for you and your family. Odorous secretions and skin casts contain allergens which can be harmful for sensitive allergic people. Throughout Fairhope and the Baldwin County area, two types of cockroaches can be found:
  • The American Cockroach is larger than most roaches and lives near wet, humid areas. They prefer to feed on organic decaying matter and are also known as water bugs, flying water bug and sewer roaches.
  • German Cockroaches are the most common in the roach family and are found in American homes, condos, apartments, hotels, restaurants and other places throughout North America. In warm temperatures, they can produce 4 to 8 egg capsules in their lifetime. Within 20-30 days, each of these capsules will hatch into 30 to 40 eggs. They tend to travel within boxes, baggage and clothing.

Fleas and ticks

Fleas are pests that can be found worldwide. The female flea can lay up to 200 to 400 eggs. Actual hatching time depends on the temperature and the environment. The larva are micro-sized and very hard to identify.

Fleas that live on cats and dogs reside throughout the United States. Even if your dog or cat wears a flea collar, they can still hitch a quick ride from the back yard into the house. Often times, a large problem is discovered when people return from their vacations and find their homes infested with fleas.

Ticks feed exclusively on warm blooded animals and are the most visible of the Acarina without the use of a microscope. Certain ticks can carry many diseases such as Lyme disease, Anaplasmosis and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. They lay a batch of eggs, creating as many as ten thousand eggs or more at a time.

Bed bugs

Bed bugs are blood-sucking insects that feed on humans, mostly at night.
If they can't find a human, they will also feed on birds, cats, dogs when necessary for food (blood). There are several known species worldwide, but the most common bed bug, Cimex Lectularius is found in northern temperate climates of North America, Central Asia and Europe. Adult bed bugs are oval in size, wingless, about 1/5 inch long, with a rusty red or mahogany color shell.

Several diseases have been found, but little research proves they carry disease under normal conditions. If you find bed bugs in your home, seek a professional bed bug exterminator or pest control specialist in Daphne, AL for help immediately, before the problem gets out of hand.

Bed Bugs in Gulf Shores can be problematic year round.  For all other bug problems and pest control needs, please call us to inquire in Fairhope Al.
